Enjoy faster, longer walks?
Join ‘Sound Striders’ for 5-6 mile fitness walks every week! Meet at 8 am for coffee; walk leaves at 8:30 am. Each month we explore a different Seattle neighborhood. If joining a walk for the first time, please leave a message with the Sound Steps coordinator: (206) 684-4664, firstname.lastname@example.org. Winter weather warning: If Seattle schools are late or cancelled because of snow or ice, walks will also be cancelled.

Plans are progressing for our 2017 3-day “Southern Excursion” on May 23, 24, and 25. We’ll see interesting new neighborhoods, green-ways and views just south of Seattle as we walk on routes extending from Seahurst Park in Burien over to the Green-Duwamish River. And for soccer fans, we’ll visit Fort Dent Park, the home of the Sounders training field! The map and logistic details in the attachment will give you a general idea of our routes and bus details. Click here for details
Each walk is 10-11 miles. Pack your lunch (a picnic) and water. Start time is 9:30 a.m. all three days, with a Happy Hour each day. Plan to take the bus or plan your own parking.
Our hard-working planning team this year is Barbara McHarg, Karin Queen, Frances Rondestvedt and Dan Rounds, with generous help from Laura Kennedy and the WABI walking group from Burien.
Final maps and details will be emailed May 1.
Over 55 Striders participated on one or more days of our 3-day adventure on the Eastside, walking through Bellevue, Kirkland, Medina, and Beaux Arts.
Walking makes you happy, as shown by the facial expressions of these 3-day finalists!
